Chachbag!

So my dear friend Gwen Hayes, fabulous author and all around really cool chick, had something very strange happen to her this past weekend. Scott Baio lost his goddamn mind on her. For all the fun details, go here:

And because he so clearly wants to be recognized for his esteemed opinions and eloquent way of speaking about the President of our country (and his crazy people CAPSLOCK RAGING at an author who simply had the gall to unfollow him), Dear Author and everyone we can connive into it, are going to give him that recognition. His very own word. Behold:

Chachbag

New Release!

Did you enjoy our story "Exposure" in Dreamspinner Press's Sindustry II anthology? Then you'll want to pick up the new anthology, Games In The Dark, which features part two of the Art Of Exposure series, Maximum Exposure! Click HERE to buy!

It’s been two weeks since Angel Ferrara and Sebastian Case exploded into each other’s lives and exposed Angel to a world of submission and domination he never knew existed. Sebastian, an experienced Dom, decides it’s time his new lover got a safeword and his first real taste of exactly what being with him means.

Sebastian thinks Shibari, the art of erotic Japanese rope bondage, is perfect for him, but Angel’s not so sure he can give Sebastian what he wants. The vulnerability and intimacy of it are almost enough to send him running for the Vegas hills.

But Sebastian’s been leaving him wanting for days, and that safeword thing is grating at his ‘never back down’ pride. Can Angel learn to bend for the man who makes him want to give him anything, or will the pressure be too much and put an end to a relationship that’s just begun?

Maximum Exposure is the second in The Art Of Exposure series, 7 short stories featuring Angel and Sebastian and their road to discovery and passion. Future installments will release in the months following, including the story Northern Exposure in Dreamspinner's Holiday Advent Calender. Then, in early 2010 those, as well as four new, previously unreleased, stories in the series will release in a print and ebook collection. Stay tuned for more information!

Contest

In honor of "Haunted by Your Soul" coming out on the 7th I'm running a contest for either a copy of that or the first book in the trilogy "My Heart is Within You." The winner's choice.

It's a scavenger hunt, since I haven't done one of those on the blog yet. The answers can be emailed to me at margueritelabbe@gmail.com and all the answers can be found on the covers for the three books.

1. Name two pieces of jewelry that Jacob is wearing. Lol, there's a bonus if you get all three.
2. Describe two of the tattoos on either Jacob or Kristair. Another bonus if you can point out how the tattoos are different on the two men.
3. What's the title of the third book?
4. What's the background object in all three book covers?

The person who emails me with the highest score by 12:00 on the 7th will get their choice of the book they want either as an e-book or print. Good luck!

When I turned the corner

I can’t remember when I first decided I wanted to be a writer, I think I was 11. I do, however, remember when I decided this was it, I had found the story that was going to do it and I was going for it, balls to the wall. It wasn’t even my idea, not the beginning kernel anyway.

My very good friend who I’d been writing with just for fun for about 2 years had come up with a vague idea for a 5th century angst-ridden erotic romance for her 2005 NaNoWriMo novel (I’d never even heard of NaNo before then and thought she was nuts for trying it). She dropped out of NaNo on day 3 with about 2 pages written. She sent those pages to me and poof, there showed up the second main character on my desk demanding I get him in that story NOW. I love Marguerite, but I knew if I didn’t get in on it and crack the whip that story would never get written and it was too good, too insistent to let die.

So I begged, I wheedled, I coerced and I bribed…okay, it really didn’t take that much, it was more like “Margie, if you don’t want me to horn in on this idea tell me right now, otherwise I’m getting ready to write the next section.” She didn’t tell me not to and so our professional collaberation (and my professional writing career) was born. That book is only next spring going to see real publication (Bee Among The Clover, as well as its sequel Lotus In The Wild, coming spring 2010 to Dreamspinner Press), but it was the impetus to everything that’s happened in between and everything that’ll happen in the future.

About Letting In The Light:

When Rowan Lee arrived in small, liberal Privincetown, he heard tales of the eccentric, brilliant, possibly insane Finnegan Clark. A world-famous mystery writer, Finnegan's been to the top of the bestseller list more times than anyone can count. It's about the only place he goes, sequestered away in his mansion by the sea.

Enter Rowan. The free-spirited lovechild of aging hippies, Rowan believes all anyone needs is love and when he makes a delivery to Finn's mansion and meets the man himself, it's infatuation at first sight. Not to mention lust. Never mind that Finn's twice his age and snarls at him more than he speaks to him.

All Rowan wants is to make the world a better place, one person at a time, but all Finn wants is to be left alone. Sparks fly, and if Rowan can't break Finn's walls down, he'll burn them down...one sizzling encounter at a time.

Excerpt:

Rowan sighed as he stood under the shower, letting the water sheet over him. He always thought too much in the shower, but what else was there for his mind to do, really? Naturally for the last forty-eight hours, his mind kept returning to Finnegan. More specifically, what had happened that morning.

The blunt dismissal had stung, he’d admit it, but mostly it’d bothered him because it made him think how lonely Finn was. How long had it been since anyone had been nice to him just for the sake of being nice?

Alright, so maybe Rowan’s motives weren’t exactly pure. He was attracted to the man beyond belief. Not just physically—there was something about him, under the gruffness and rudeness—that called to Rowan. Finnegan was lonely as hell, and Rowan had the thought he was a bit like a schoolyard bully. He was mean and nasty and pushed people away so he didn’t get too close and end up being hurt.

Or maybe that was just his hippie-loving nature talking and Finnegan was just a plain old asshole.

Jake would say he was just an asshole, had said as much when Rowan had shared the encounter with him. Of course, Jake also said Paris Hilton was more than just a pretty face, so Rowan wouldn’t exactly take his friend’s opinions to the bank.

After shutting off the water, Rowan stepped out and wrapped a towel around his hips, a second scrubbing at his hair as he tugged open the bathroom door and stepped out into the hall.

“Rowan!” Jake’s voice called from the living room. “Phone’s for you. I left it on the kitchen counter. Some guy.” There was a teasing tone that said Jake thought Rowan was getting a booty call. Understandable, considering it was nearly midnight on a weekday.

Rowan padded into the kitchen, glancing through the archway into the living room. “Thanks, Jake.” He grabbed the cordless and hurried back to his room, shutting the door and leaning back against it. “Hello?” How long had whoever it was been waiting while he showered?

“Rowan.”

His knees knocked together a little. He couldn’t mistake that voice. Deep, gruff, it was the kind of voice that pretty much defined the word 'gravelly.' “Finnegan? How did you get my number?”

“Called the bakery and your friend Jodie gave it to me. No one calls me that, you know. Everyone calls me Finn.”

Rowan smiled, pushing away from the door and walking over to his messy bed to sit down. “I’m not everyone.” There was a heavy pause and Rowan tilted his head. “Hello?”

“Would… That is, are you busy?”

“No. I just got out of the shower…why?” For some reason he didn’t understand, Rowan’s heart began to thump hard in his chest.

“You could come over now. If you want. I was rude this morning. Again. My cook is out of town, actually.”

Rowan wasn’t sure whether to be speechless or laugh. He was coming to the conclusion Finn didn’t apologize very well. He’d acknowledge his mistake and that was sort of his way of saying he was sorry. Rowan could accept that.

“I’m fresh out of coffee, Finnegan.”

“I don’t want your coffee.”

Rowan couldn’t help himself. He had to ask. “Then what do you want?”

Another of those heavy pauses. “You.”
